How to Get Games on Apple Watch (Step by Step)
The watch has its own App Store, so you can find, download and play a game without touching your iPhone. Here's the one-minute version, plus fixes for the common snags.
Install straight from the watch
- Press the Digital Crown to open the app grid.
- Open the App Store app.
- Tap Search and dictate or scribble the name, for example "Lucky Crown".
- Tap Get, confirm with a double-press of the side button if asked.
The game installs and appears in your app grid. Done.
Install from your iPhone
- Open the Watch app on the iPhone.
- Scroll to Available Apps: any iPhone app with a watch version shows an Install button.
- Or install the app from the iPhone App Store; if it has a watch component and "Automatic App Install" is on, it lands on the watch by itself.
The game doesn't show up?
- Watch-only games (built purely for watchOS) can be easiest to find by searching the App Store on the watch itself.
- Check watchOS version. Old watches can't run apps built for newer watchOS; update in Watch app → General → Software Update.
- Storage full? Remove an unused app: long-press the app grid, tap the ✕.
What to install first
Pick something built for the wrist, not shrunk onto it; see what kinds of games actually work on a watch. A classic slot is a great test: Lucky Crown is free, spins with one tap, works offline and needs no iPhone after install. Get it on the App Store.
