Wild and Scatter Symbols in Slots, Explained
Two symbols break the normal rules of every slot machine: one bends the paylines in your favor, the other ignores them completely.
Wild symbols: the joker of the reels
A wild substitutes for other symbols to complete a winning line. Land cherry–wild–cherry on a payline and it pays as three cherries. Wilds turn near-misses into wins, which is why they're the symbol you learn to want most. In Lucky Crown the wild is the crown itself. Fitting, since it's the most valuable sight on the reels. What wilds don't do
A wild usually can't substitute for a scatter or other bonus symbols: the two live under different rules. That's the most common point of confusion at the paytable.
Scatter symbols: wins that ignore paylines
A scatter doesn't care about paylines. It counts wherever it lands on the grid. Scatters do two things:
- Pay anywhere: enough scatters on screen pay out regardless of position.
